Abstract

The diversification of grazing combined with production systems less dependent on resources such as mineral fertilizer, appears as a promising alternative for the intensification of animal production models. Advance studies of morpho-physiological and agronomic characteristics of forage legumes are important to characterize the patterns of growth, development and production. The peanut grass (Arachis pintoi Krapov. & WC Gregory) is notable for stable relations with tropical grasses under grazing pastures even in low light intensity, persistence in the pasture management under adverse conditions. In order to establish bases for the use of forage peanut, the goal is to describe and explain changes in the composition compared morphological, structural patterns, morphogenic, photosynthesis and forage production of five genotypes of forage peanut subjected to two cutting frequencies. The study will be deployed in the Escola Superior de Agricultura "Luiz de Queiroz", USP campus located in Piracicaba - SP. The treatments consist of five genotypes of Arachis spp.submetidos the two cutting frequencies (28 and 35 days). The experiment will be completely randomized design with three replications, in a 5x2x3 factorial scheme, totaling 30 experimental units. The variables are: herbage accumulation, leaf area index, light interception, morphological composition, photosynthesis and leaf morphogenesis.
