Abstract

This work consists essentially in translating three works of Proust never seen before in Portuguese (Contre l'obscurité, La Bible d'Amiens - post-scriptum à la préface du traducteur e Impressions de route en automobile). All of them were written between 1896 and 1907, before, therefore, the publication of his most important novel, À la recherche du temps perdu. In these texts, the french writer talks about subjects - like questions of literary criticism, artistic movements, and the relation between modernity and classical objects - and introduces important ways of writing for his subsequent literary production for the comprehension of the historical and cultural positions of his time, though they surpass their historical position to provide our manners for the comprehension of our contemporaneous problems. The translations will be done based on the edition of Jérôme Picon, Écrits sur l'art, and will search to unveil and make clear to the reader, as far as we can, the social, historical, and cultural relations of the texts, thus giving a wider comprehension of the works.(AU)
