Abstract

This study aims to identify filamentous fungi through "DNA microarray" method. The microorganisms of bloodstream fungal infection will be isolated from patients with onco hematologic diseases, mainly acute leukemia or lymphoma, cared for at hematology ward of the Campinas State University Hospital (HC-UNICAMP). The strains of filamentous fungi will be initially isolated from routine exams of patients, performed by the Division of Mycology of Clinical Pathology Laboratory. The isolates will be identified using a combination of macroscopic and micromorphological features, and will be subcultured and analyzed in platform of oligonucleotide sequences (DNA microarray). The platform will be developed at the University of Campinas, based on oligonucleotide sequences previously defined and plotted on plastic slides for the more frequent molds in this population, namely Fusarium solani complex, Fusarium oxysporum, Fusarium moniliforme, Fusarium sacchari ,F usarium glicynes, delphinoides Fusarium, Fusarium napiforme, sickle cell Fusarium, Aspergillus, Rhizopus, Rhizomucor, Mucor, Scedosporium, Exophiala, Absidia, Cladosporium.
