Abstract

The main objective of this project is to study the quasi-integrability properties of a theory for a real scalar field in 1+1 dimensions, which is in fact a deformation of the integrable sine-Gordon model. The project has a great perspective of applications in physics since many non-linear phenomena are not described by exactly integrable theories, but instead by approximations of them. The student has been taking his Scientific Initiation program under the supervision of Prof. L.A. Ferreira since October/2010, and has learnt all the techniques necessary for the Master degree.
