The goal of the project is to investigate the role of the latent heat flux on surface in the planetary boundary layer temporal and spatial evolution over the metropolitan region of São Paulo (MRSP), using LES ("Large Eddy Simulation"). It will be executed numerical simulations of the tridimensional fields of wind, potential temperature and specific humidity. The numerical simulations will be designed to represent the boundary layer evolution over an urban surface with flat topography and horizontally homogeneous landused, with similar characteristics as those of the MRSP. The data of wind and of other meteorologic parameters will be extracted from the observational studies of the metropolitan region of the city of São Paulo (Oliveira et al., 2002a-b, Oliveira et al, 2003; Karam et al., 2003, Codato et al., 2008a, Bárbaro et al., 2010).
