Abstract

The deleterious effects of O2 occur during storage of silage, especially in marginal areas of the silo, and the presence of this element promotes the growth of microorganisms that reduce the nutritional value and change the food security of silage. It is observed that this phenomenon occurs in foods with high content of digestible nutrients, such as corn silage, and O2 flow can be influenced by the plastic film to seal. Four treatments will be performed, depending on the canvas cover of the silo, with or without a layer of mulch on the sugar cane, the treatment will be: 1 - Canvas double-sided polyethylene, manufactured in Brazil (0.200 mm thickness), 2 - double-sided canvas polyethylene, manufactured in Brazil (0.200 mm thick), associated with a layer about 10 cm of crushed sugar cane, 3 - Canvas Italian manufacturing polyamide (0.045 mm thick), associated with a polypropylene on canvas and 4 - double-sided canvas of Italian manufacturing polyethylene (0.125 mm thick). Will be used like trench silos with a capacity of about 40 t each. After opening, will assess the chemical composition, fermentation characteristics, microbiological, presence of aflatoxins, panel temperature and losses due to the aerobic deterioration. Performance evaluation will be conducted productive, the chemical composition of milk, eating behavior and nutrient digestibility in lactating Holstein cows consuming these silages as well as evaluating the presence of aflatoxin M1 in milk. The experiment will be the 4x4 Latin square, the data will be statistically analyzed by SAS (2002) and the averages compared by Tukey test (0.05). (AU)
