Abstract

This project aims to determine a composite score scale that may characterize the reactivity of the equine species altogether. To do this, will be assessed 100mares bred Brazilian Equestrian, from APTA, the Polo Regional da Alta Mogiana, located in the city of Colina, SP. The assessment of reactivity will be made by assigning scores to the following behaviors: drive intensity and presence/absence of blows of the feet, position of the ears and eyes, audibility of breath, presence/absence of vocalization, escape velocity and urination. To do so the animals will be observed during routine maneuvers such as vaccination, dewormer, application, trimming and spraying against ectoparasites. To validate the proposed scale will be used predefined scales of reactivity. A Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA) will be used to simultaneously analyze the behavioral variables of reactivity. For validation of the scale being proposed composite score will use the U test and the Mann-Whitney comparison of scales composite score pre-established in the literature and the scale proposed by this work will be performed by the Tukey-Kramer test. The habituation to the handling of the animal will be examined through an analysis of variance and comparison of averages Tuker-Kramer. Will be conducted Pearson correlations and regression analysis for all behaviors studied, and all statistical analysis will be analyzed using the SAS STAT software features, with a significance level of 5%.
