Abstract

The regional blockades are used in the veterinary medicine as part of the protocol of a balanced anesthesia, close to the anesthesia general inhalation. The effectiveness, however, it is variable front to the accomplishment difficulty due to references anatomical vacancies or the executioner's inexperience. The blockade peribulbar possesses indication in general for ophthalmic procedures, however the accomplishment of the technique requests taken care by the proximity of the needle to the ocular bulb that, in case it happens mistake, it can propitiate the perforation of the same. For the warranty of the effectiveness of the blockade it is made use, frequently, of great volumes of anesthetics, with risk of reaching adjacent structures (vases, nerves, muscles) and to reach close values to the poisonous anesthetic doses. The attendance with the ultrasonography image can be constituted in excellent tool in the execution of local techniques, mainly the one of delicate access and with risk of lesions as the blockade peribulbar. With the objective of standardizing the technique of blockade peribulbar guided by ultrasound scan in dogs, this work will be executed with it is proceeded: in the first phase, four dogs will be anesthetized and submitted to the blockade peribulbar guided by the ultrasound scan with injection of Ropivacaine 1% associated to the methylene blue (1:1), for the identification of the orbital structures and oculars, reached by the solution. The second phase will be constituted in comparative study of the conventional technique of the blockade peribulbar blindly with the technique using the attendance ultrasound in real time, with ropivacaine to 1% in 20 healthy dogs.
