Abstract

The relief of the State of São Paulo is compartmentalized into five geomorphic provinces that are characterized from its genesis, structure and lithologic basis. The Paulista Peripheral Depression matches one of these provinces, has the form of a corridor of hilly topography approximately 50 km wide and is located between two other geomorphic provinces of the region Cuesta and highs crystal clear Atlantic Plateau. The proposed study aims to identify and interpret the planning surfaces, defined by Penteado(1968), by dating and correlation of the surfaces of the Cimeira, Neogênica I, Neogênica II, the high and low river terraces, using techinique Optically Stimulated Luminescence (LOE) training materials in different soils located in areas of their surfaces except the surface of Summit already dated by correlative deposits. This technique allows you to assign to specific periods of human evolution the origin of certain weather conditions known or modeled, by absolute dating of the material surface (80 to 100 cm depth). The obtained results allow to draw relationships between the genesis of these forms, and possible environmental conditions preterit when the climate was in semi-arid conditions and the subsequent carving of the river channel in hot and humid conditions. Thus, you can build a set of regionalized climate oscillations that occurred during the late Tertiary and Quaternary, taking into account the influence of activities Neotectonics in the development of such forms of relief. Thus, this study aims to contribute to discussions on the genesis of landforms and their correspondence with climatic oscillations occurred in the recent period of time scale of nature.
