Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the influence of prosthetic connection, the dental implant length and bone quality on the stress distribution in splinted implant-supported prostheses by means of the three-dimensional nonlinear finite element method. Thirty six three-dimensional models will be fabricated using the graphical modeling softwares SolidWorks 2010, Rhinoceros 4.0 and InVesalius. Each model will be composed by a bone block from the maxillary molar region (cortical and cancellous bone) with different bone qualities simulated (Type II, III and IV) and three dental implants (Connection Implant Systems Ltda., Sao Paulo, Brazil), external-hexagon or morse taper implant (Ø 4.0 mm) of different lengths (7.0 mm, 8.5 mm, 10.00 mm and 11.5 mm), with metal-ceramic crown and 20º cusp pattern tilting. The three-dimensional designs will be exported to the pre and post processing software, FEMAP 10.2, for mesh generation and application of an axial (200N) and oblique (100N) load, then, the analysis will be performed by the finite element software, NEiNastran 9.2. The results will be visualized through von Mises stress and Maximum Principal Stress maps in each individual model proposed
