Abstract

The Brazilian Orogen, on the southern margin of the São Francisco Craton, shows geometric and phenomenological similarities with mesozoic orogens which date from the time of the clowse of the mesozoic Tethys paleo-ocean (Indo-Australian plate). The suture zone placed between the San franciscana and Paranapanema plate as well as in the Alphine Orogen is subhorizontal and cartographically sinuous. However it esposes metassedimentary rocks that are exposed in levels of medium-inferior levels of the orogenic crust as a pile of Himalayan nappe. The suture zone of the southern segment of the Brazilian Orogen is probably placed between the Andrelandia Nappe System and the nappes of Carrancas and Lima Duarte. A detailed study of a Domain with such features is of great value to the scientific knowledge of Precambrian Orogenic Belts. The sobreposition of the Lima Duarte Nappe over the Andrelandia Nappe (overlapping of a dupplex system?) is part of the study os this tectonic investigation. The goel of this research is the study of structural and kynematic features of the rocks, the influence of thermal flow during the transportation of the nappe (assumed here as an overlapping) and the integration of the data related to the Lima Duarte nappe in a georreferenced base. The front of the Lima Duarte nappe, NW region of the state of Minas Gerais, is the object of study. For this, structural and metamorphic geology approaches as well as the ArcGis plataform will be used as tools for the development of this present research. This research is part of the FAPESP: 2010/11152-8.(AU)
