Considering the presence of carotenoid pigments and proteins in the R. gelatinous biomass, it is suggested that this product should be used in animal feed. This project aims to utilize the bacterial biomass in broiler chickens and laying hens feeding in order to analyze its effects on the proximate composition, pigment content, and lipid stability of the products. Chickens will be raised for 45 days under controlled environmental conditions, being fed with appropriate food for each growth stage and different concentrations of lyophilized R. gelatinous biomass along the finishing stage in order to conclude the four experimental treatments. These chickens will be slaughtered after 45 days of creation and will be prepared for proximate composition, oxycarotenoid concentration, and rancidity analyses. The laying hens will be raised in controlled environmental conditions for 30 days and will receive commercial feed containing Carophyll red, lyophilized, and atomized R. gelatinous biomass, besides the control group, without any pigment. During this period, the yolks in the sampled eggs will be dried by atomization for the determination of proximate composition, oxycarotenoid content, and rancidity. The results obtained will undergo statistical descriptive comparative analysis.(AU)
