Abstract

This research project has goal to investigate, demonstrate and understand the didactic and pedagogical potential of Distance Learning for the Mathematics Teacher Education. We made a qualitative research, based on the methodology of meta-research, we develop a mapping of the academic production in Mathematics Education in the State of São Paulo, analyzing Thesis and Dissertations that focus on aspects related to Mathematics Teacher Education and Distance Learning, produced and defended during the period 2002 to 2010, the Graduate Program of Mathematics Education (UNESP - Rio Claro and PUC - São Paulo), the Graduate Program of Education (USP - São Paulo, UNICAMP and UFSCar), and Graduate Program in Science Education (UNESP - Bauru). In addition, for the purposes of meta-search, we will build on, too, Testimonials, Narratives and/or interviews of teachers and/or researchers involved in the preparation, coordination, implementation and evaluation of teacher education courses at distance. The data coming from the analysis of the Thesis and Dissertations will be selected to data that are triangulated through Testimonials, Narratives and/or interviews with teachers and the theoretical framework for Distance Learning and Teacher Education that supports this research. Through triangulation of data, we reflect on the didactic and pedagogical potential of distance learning environments for create contextualized environments of Mathematics Teacher Education.
