Insertion and treatment of intercultural aspects in the process of developing a dictionary for Brazilian learners of Italian as a foreign language

Abstract

This research project is the work conducted as project coordinator of Cantiere di Parole, a pedagogical dictionary Portuguese - Italian, online, free, aiming to the production of texts and the learning of the Italian lexicon to Brazilian students. The dictionary teaching oriented has two main functions and each one has to receive appropriate treatment: 1. respond immediately to questions of textual lexicon during the text production without interrupting the flow of thought, 2. provide complementary lexicographic information to help the student-consultant in choosing the most suitable equivalent as well as provide subsidies for research and expansion of the lexicon. When trying to establish the equivalent in Italian for the words related to the semantic field of the house, it was found that the solutions of each culture differ. There are differences from the aspect of living, the amount and usefulness of each room and the quantity and choice of furniture. I believe that by understanding the role of intercultural communicative competence (ICC) in teaching and learning Italian as a foreign language, I can select and treat such information in a manner most appropriate lexicographically.
