Abstract reast cancer is the most common malignancy among women, accounting for thousands of deaths annually. Among the various mediators that act in the carcinogenic process, the components of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) has assumed an important role. Angiotensin II (Ang II), better known peptide formed from the cascade of events in SARS, has shares vasoconstrictive, angiogenic, hyperplastic, proliferative and metastatic. However, angiotensin-(1-7) [Ang-(1-7)] is another peptide belonging to the SRA which recently has been extensively studied, has vasodilator actions, antiproliferative and apoptotic. It is known that solid tumors have a heterogeneous cellular composition and only a small portion of these cells have the capacity to proliferate and generate new tumors. One explanation for the fact is that most tumor cells are unable to proliferate and give rise to new tumors, and only one cell subgroup with the primordial characteristics (¨ ° or cancer stem cells ICTs) could give rise to new tumors . Thus, adding to our previous studies and those who are being held, we propose in this paper to evaluate the role of angiotensin II and angiotensin-(1-7) on proliferation and tumor progression of breast cancer, through biochemical and pharmacological with breast carcinoma cells (MDA MB231 and SK-BR3) and normal breast cells (MCF-10 A and MCF10F) for analysis of cell proliferation, apoptosis and viability, cellular senescence and stem cell population (¨ cancer stem cells ¨) through Marking with ALDEFLUOR, analysis of differentially expressed genes in microarray experiments, as well as assess the presence of the markers CD 24 and CD44 in tissues camudongos NUDE, after stimulation with peptides Ang II and Ang-(1-7) in cell lines with stem cell population. | |
