Abstract

This research proposal consists in the study of digital image processing techniques that allow to implement algorithms that can be applied in chest X-rays scanned to improve the viewing of lung diseases, in special, the Interstitial Lung Diseases (ILD), aiming to facilitate and improve whenever possible its viewing to assist in its diagnostic. The algorithms will be implemented using the software MatLab (Matrix Laboratory) that allow the creation of a software with a "friendly" graphic interface with the user, besides that it can be executable in any Windows operating system. Through this project it is expected that with the improvement of the viewing of interstitial diseases in images, it will be possible to assist the professional in his diagnostic and consequently bypass the difficulty to perform the High Resolution Computed Tomography (HRCT) in patients suspected of this disease, since this exam is not always available in all the hospitals.
