Rotary systems accelerate and facilitate biomechanical preparation, whose main objective, apart from shaping, is the antisepsis of root canals. The purpose of this study is to assess the ability to decontaminate the root canal by means of microbiological culture, comparing the BioRace and ProTaper Rotary systems with or without ultrasonic irrigation. 46 extracted humans’ incisors will be sterilized in an autoclave and then infected with Enterococcus faecalis. After contamination, the biomecanical preparation will be performed with two Rotary systems with and without the use of ultrassonic irrigation with saline. Following, root canal microbiological samples will be conducted with sterile absorbent paper points, which will be diluted and spread on agar plates for colony counts of surviving bacteria. Therefore the rotary systems will be tested and compared to the best ability to clean the canals of extracted teeth.(AU)
