Some studies have shown that based ceramic calcium phosphate present ability to induce bone formation in heterotopic sites. Although the principle by which this occurs osteoinduction has not been clarified, it is known that the physico-chemical properties of biomaterials, such as pore size, protein adsorption and solubility has a direct influence on this process. The aim of the present study is to evaluate morphological, morphometric and immunohistochemical expression of osteocalcin (OCN) by the potential of a new composite-based porous Hydroxyapatite and tricalcium phosphate in the ratio 70:30 (HA / TCPP) in the induction of heterotopic osteogenesis in the perimysium muscle of rats and mice. The HA / TCPp in the form of particles of 0.75 mm are implanted in the adductor muscle of the right thigh of 30 rats (0.2 cc) and 30 mice (0.1 cc). After 30, 60 and 90 days after implantation, groups of 10 animals / period, will be sacrificed and the region of each animal containing the graft material over the adjacent soft tissue will be collected, fixed in 10% formalin and processed histologically, subject to the procedures histology. The presence of bone tissue is evidenced by morphological analysis of tissue sections stained with hematoxylin and eosin and immunohistochemically confirmed by detection of osteocalcin. The amount of HA / TCP, and new bone tissue will be assessed by morphometry of relative volume.
