Abstract

Amongst the illnesses that are transmitted for the parasites of this group, the Lyme disease, whose causing agent is a spirochete, the Borrelia spp.. The symptomatology of the illness can vary in agreement with the geographic region and the genospecies and cepas of Borrelia and vectors' ticks. In Brazil, the first episodes had been initiated in the decade of 90, of an illness that was part similar and part different with the classical Lyme disease, who was then called Baggio- Yoshinari Syndrom (SBY). Until the moment, the trials to isolate the biologic agent are unsuccessful, but PCR positive results had been founded in some ticks' species and in the blood of illness suspects. However, the recurrent character of the illness points to the possibility of its etiologic agent is a Borrelia in the L form, that is atypical and it has an adaptive capacity. The purpose of this work is to isolate and characterize the etiologic agent of the SYB illness by using the electronic microscopy and molecular biology assays, with biologic materials (blood of domestic and sylvester animals and the ticks) whose they'll be harvested in the regions where there's prevalence of the cases. Moreover this, the ticks who will be PCR positive and those harvested on our Laboratory, they will be artificially feed with the blood of the patients whose have the SYB. The isolation will be realizated in primary cell cultures (made with the ticks' eggs who were artificially feed) and established cell cultures that are kept in the laboratory, and then the identification will be realized.
