Abstract

The adequate intake of fruits and vegetables during pregnancy has a positive impact on the health of women and children. Environmental factors associated with eating behavior have received attention in the context of public health by directly affecting the health of individuals. The purpose of the present study is to evaluate the relationship between perception of pregnant women attended in Basic Health Units living in Ribeirão Preto-SP about the food environment, and the adequate consumption of fruits and vegetables. The sample will consist of 173 adult pregnant women. The fruit and vegetable intake will be estimated by a quantitative food frequency questionnaire developed specifically for pregnant women. The perception of the food environment is analyzed using a questionnaire adapted from an american study. The reproducibility of questions on perceived food environment was previously tested among 48 pregnant adults. Logistic regression models will be used to assess the relationship between self perceived food environment and adequate intake of fruit and vegetable (400g/day) among pregnant women. (AU)
