The constant questioning of the academic world to the initial results especially given long ago perceived a gap in relation to the effective interaction between disciplinary knowledge and fields of professional activity, or rather the fragmentation of the disciplines of the course and the difficult relationship between theory and practice. From this concern, this study has aimed to analyze, from the perspective of physical education professionals, the meanings and implications of University Extension in the initial training and professional development. The subjects of this study will consist of students of both sexes, who work in diverse areas of Physical Education, which formed the old curriculum of Full Degree in Physical Education at a public university located within the State of Sao Paulo, who participated in a university extension project in 2005 (last year of Full Degree) and that remained from 1 to 2 years interning in the project. The methodological framework will be in line in a qualitative study and use as research tools: a literature review, questionnaire and semistructured interviews. Finally, it is expected that the results of this research may provide insights into the meanings of this action in the process of academic training, to influence the daily practice of professionals, who can know the future, contribute to the training of health professionals, assist in the expansion of the literature related to university extension, which now presents itself scarce, and finding more ways to work with the university extension to assist in the formation of actually graduating and awaken new perspectives to this formative action of the University.
