In this research project has been proposed to analyze the importance of the separate collection of recyclable materials in the municipality of Martinópolis - SP, in order to evaluate the results, as well as its social and financial sustainability. With these objectives makes it necessary to establish with the population and also to members of the Association of Recyclable Materials from Martinópolis - SP (ACAMART) a reflective approach that will be observing, interviewing, obtaining and systematizing data in order to understand the concepts of selective collection of recyclable materials, reuse, recycling and others and its use by residents and members, and to analyze the effective participation and the satisfaction of the population in the implementation period of this research project. Thus, in view of the difficulties faced since the implementation of selective collection in the municipality of Martinópolis, it is important to rethink the existing program and proposals for improvement, considering the models of association of collectors of selective collection, the market Floating sale of recyclable materials, the high turnover of people who are the association and the search for an effective public support at the municipal level, to maintain and improve the existing program. Keywords: solid waste, an association of collectors, selective collection of recyclable materials, Martinópolis.
