Archeology of the image on Portuguese Language teaching in Brazil (1960-2010)

Abstract

We are going to continue, in this research Project, to develop what was developed in the master, when we studied the mixed text's role in the creation of questions from national exams of evaluation (ENEM and ENADE). Our goal was to analyze specifically the assumed skills of images interpretation by the students when they are answering the questions. In this new project, we intend to investigate the emergency conditions, and the progressive expansion, of the image language usage in the contemporary text productions in the educational scene, in order to understand the assumed theoretical that have been guided the reading teaching/learning and the text interpretation, altogether, and the image interpretation, specially, and we considered the history scene of linguistics studies institutionalization in Brazil. For this, we based our research on the French Discourse Analyses, especially in Jean Jacques Courtine who follows the Michel Foucault's archeogenealogical approach. Among the key conceptions of this approach, we can highlight the terms 'enunciation', 'discourse formation', 'archive' because our goal is to understand the semiology and history of the images, and its contemporary usage, in the didactic-evaluating texts which were produced and published in Brazil in the latest decades. The question that guides our research has as goal to answer the following question: which changes occurred in both didactic and evaluative texts' production in the latest forty years, in especially concerning the image usage exploration, and which historical, cultural and theoretical factors guided these changes in the Portuguese teaching? Our corpus, by one hand, will be created by books and didactic manuals, which was published since 70's, by the other hand, by selective exams and evaluative ones (vestibulares, ENEM, ENADE), since 80's.
