Abstract

The project exhibits the philosophy discussed in the Animal Welfare course. Dedicated to confined horses, it contains a literary review focused in handling and situations that can improve or detract animal welfare. Therefore, it suggests a respectful and harmonic co-living between man and animal since the exploration of the animal must be rationally done in order to humanity evolution. The objective of the project is to develop a questionnaire that collects information about animal welfare of horses in the region of São José do Rio Preto-SP. In order that to happen, a survey about the actual situation of the animals and the status of the relationship man-horse will be done. On these data, life quality and animal welfare levels of confined horses will be measured and then improvement actions will be suggested in order to increase animal welfare.
