Work Scientific Initiation - Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto da Universidade de São Paulo, Ribeirão Preto, 2011.INTRODUCTION: The voice, besides being the means by which people communicate most of the time it is also the instrument of work of individuals such as singers, actors, teachers, telemarketers, lawyers, among other jobs that depend the intense use of the voice. Due to this continuous employment vocal signs of fatigue have been consistently reported by those individuals, so that often precludes the exercise of their professions in the periods in which such signs are worsening. Speech in the clinic there is a high prevalence of cases of vocal fatigue as well as the number of professionals who use their voice professionally. In the literature, various data about the amount of time to induce vocal fatigue, and these extend from 15 minutes to 2 hours. Thus, this study aimed to characterize the voice before and after proof of continuous speech the following parameters: the usual vocal intensity, acoustic measures of voice and self-awareness tactile, kinesthetic and auditory voice. METHODOLOGY: A total of 20 women with a mean age of 20 years, who had no history of dysphonia, gastroesophageal reflux, allergies, hormonal changes, respiratory diseases, hearing impairment, neurological or psychiatric, which did not use drugs, medications or continuous who sang sporadically. The procedures were performed at pre-scheduled date, in the morning and eight hours of vocal rest. The evaluation was performed to exclude videoestrobolaringoscópica laryngeal problems. We calculated the acoustic analysis of voice, through the software "MDVP Voice Program" - laboratory KAY - Multi-Speech Model 3700, by which the parameters were measured F0 and NHR before and after two hours of continuous speech. The usual vocal intensity was recorded by digital decibel self-perception and tactile kinesthetic and auditory speech was obtained by means of a visual-analog scale. Temperature and humidity were controlled and kept the noise level below 50dB. ANALYSIS: To analyze the values of acoustic measurements we used thenonparametric test of Friedman for paired samples and to analyze the self-perception of tactile kinesthetic and auditory speech test was used non-parametric Wilcoxon test for paired samples. The level of significance (p) was set at a value less than or equal to 0.05. RESULTS: The results of this study indicated that after two hours of continuous speech is increased habitual vocal intensity, self-perception of tactile-kinesthetic and auditory voice, the main symptoms: hoarseness, vocal fatigue, and effort to speak need to cough and clear his throat, as well as a tendency to increase the fundamental frequency and glottal noise reduction, although the latter two parameters did not present statistically significant differences. CONCLUSION: Two hours of continuous speech are able to increase vocal intensity standard as well as the symptoms listed through self-awareness tactile kinesthetic and auditory voice in young women without vocal.Keywords: vocal fatigue.
