Digital storage of data creates a rich source of information for experts of a given knowledge domain. Visualization techniques are part of a set of computational tools to extract information from data, enabling experts search for conclusions by interacting with several bi and tridimensional graphic representations. Evolution in computer processing and communication power has been providing means for advances in interactive tridimensional visualization through internet, as well as, it has been contributing for improvements in the ways collaborative tasks are done. In that context, the open standard X3D, which extends and incorporates improvements to VRML, was defined as its sucessor. That standard uses a scene graph - data structure containing the graphic objects hierarchical organization, their features and relations - to handle the tridimensional scene. The goal of this research project is to investigate the possibilities for visual mapping of a data set to the elements of X3D scene graph, and the use of resources of its related interactive tridimensional environment for data exploration and analysis through internet. It is expected that the results of this research contribute to complement those ones from other investigations and allow definition of new researches.
