Praxis in the creative process of graphic visual expression

Abstract

This research project contemplates an investigation on the creative processes present in visual graphic production. Our aim is to analyze its structures and strategies, in order to contribute to affirm creative praxis as a founding ground for the construction of knowledge. As part of our activities, we envisage to follow projects developed in the environment of the studios of the University of Aveiro, in the courses of Art and Design, and to participate in the ID+ Instituto de Investigação em Design, Media e Cultura. The main goal here is to establish a dialog between the researchers of the Portuguese institute and the researchers of the Grupo de Pesquisa em Processos de Criação, PUC-SP, Brazil. More specifically, we will be working in the sense of promoting the exchange of experiences related to the investigation of creative processes in the areas of visuality and of graphic design. We also intend to produce a visual-graphic experimental project. Throughout the course of this practical experience, of the activities of conducting research and exchanging ideas, we will seek to deepen and to organize reflections dealing with creative praxis as a means of constructing knowledge. What we are looking for is then to create a dialog with professors and lecturers teaching disciplines which make use of practical work as a form of investigation, and who do not abdicate the understanding of creative action as a means of producing knowledge in the fields of art, visual communication and design. The activities of analyzing and taking part in processes of structuring and complexification of visual projects have the purpose of elaborating reflections and work methodologies in the field of creative investigation projects.
