Study of determinants of care costs for spinal cord injured patients

Abstract

Spinal cord injury is a health condition with many consequences to functioning. High costs have been associated to acute and post-acute care of these individuals, but there is no study with a Brazilian context. The objective of this study is to measure the costs associated to the care of patients with spinal cord injury, as well as to identify determinants of such costs. A review of charts of patients who were treated in the Hospital das Clínicas de Ribeirão Preto will be performed and data relative to medical, non-medical care, as well as exams and devices used will be analyzed both in the acute and post-acute phase. Functional outcomes will be correlated to those data. (AU)
