Abstract

The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) provides a holistic view of the individual and encourages the relationship between different components of functioning and disability. Among the functional activity dimension of ICF, the sit-to-stand (STS) movement should be considered in children with Cerebral Palsy (CP) since this is commonly performed in daily life and is compromised in this population. Some authors considerer that muscle weakness and participatory restrictions may be related to a decreased performance in STS. To investigate the relationship between STS movement, muscle strength and social participation in children with cerebral palsy and without disabilities. Subjects will be 10 children without disabilities and 10 with spastic diplegic CP, Gross Motor Function Classification System levels II e III. Kinematic data will be collected to analyse STS movement. To measure dorsiflexors and plantarflexors ankle and flexors and extensors knee strength it was utilized an Isokinetic dynamometer (Biodex). Particpation will be measure with the Pediatric Evaluation of Disability and Life Habits for Children (LIFE-H). Comparisons between groups of healthy children and CP will be evaluated by appropriate testing according to normality of their distribution. For the correlation study will be used correlation coefficients and logistic regression. Is will be assume a significance level of 5% (p> 0.05). (AU)
