This study was proposed to investigate the discrimination capacity of the full version Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) and its reduced forms (AUDIT-3 and AUDIT-C) in detecting binge drinking in dental undergraduated students and defining the optimal cutoff point for each test. It is an observational study of cross-sectional design. To identify the disorders concerning to alcohol, it will be used the survey AUDIT and its reduced versions (AUDIT-C e AUDIT-3). To characterize the sample it will get information about age, sex, familiar relationship, religion, sports practicing, job, social economic level, educational level and the first contact with alcohol. To evaluate the social economic level it will be used the Scale of The Brazilian Association of Research Enterprises. One question will be used as the gold standard for binge drinking. It will be performed the descriptive statistic of the variables. To study the effectiveness of the detection of binge drinking, concerning to the use of different approaches on different methods, it will be estimated the sensibility, the specificity, the accuracy and the positive and negative preditive values of the tests. It also will be done the ROC curve and its area will be calculated. The association of binge drinking with each of the several variables of interest will be studied by the chi-square test. The data that present statistic value or p<0,15 will make the multivaried analysis. The level of significance will be 5%. (AU)
