The system of organic coffee production is emerging as an alternative technology and cost, to eliminate the environmental impacts caused by irrational use of natural resources. Many experiments and analysis indicate biodiversity as a precursor of biological stability found in these diverse production systems. However, there are few scientific studies on the effect of biodiversity in agricultural systems of production. The greatest challenge of research is to identify the correct composition of the biodiversity which will provide, by means of biological synergisms, the key ecological services, such as biological control and nutrient cycling. And that is what this research will try to develope, whose objectives are focused on understanding the bio-ecological processes occurring in the soil-coffee (nutrient cycling and phytotechnical aspects of culture) in biodiverse environments. Also, promete the, identification and cataloging of species that have good association with the coffee plant and analysis of spatial and functional diversity of agroecosystems in order to evaluate whether there is a correlation between the diversity found in these agroforestry systems with the ecological stability. The research will be developed in the region of Pontal of Paranapanema, in agroforestry systems conducted by the settled farmers under the technical responsibility of IPE (Institute for Ecological Research), an institution responsible for implementation of agroforestry systems, through a project entitled "Coffee with Forest." This study will enable a better understanding of the effect of biodiversity on diversefied coffee agroecosystems that do not use external inputs (fertilizers and pesticides), as well as providing an analysis and systematization of some bio-ecological and agricultural processes responsible for self-sufficiency, productivity and resilience of ecosystems. Thus, the research will be of great scientific importance, as will allow the knowledge of possible compositions of shrub and tree species to Coffea arabica, in order to contribute with researchers, technicians and farmers in the planning and management of agroforestry systems with coffee.
