Abstract

This research aims to conduct a study of geographical variations in rainfall and its relationship to the production of electricity. Considering the intrinsic relationship between the dynamic climate and hydropower resources, especially in countries like Brazil, where climatic fluctuations are usually synonymous with the variations of the rain, picked up the Parana basin as study area a detailed analysis of the succession of atmospheric states, their relations with the genesis and distribution of rainfall and the reflections in the production of energy coming from the seasonal and annual rainfall. As for socioeconomic, this basin is very important in Brazilian society, concentrating around 32% of the national population, 90% in urban areas with the largest economic development of the country. The continued increase in population and urbanization of the region may reflect a greater consumption of water and water resources as a whole, which would compromise the availability of this natural asset for generating electricity. Moreover, considering the difficulties of climate scientists in carrying out their research, both by the absence / shortage / poor data quality, and in the processing and analysis thereof, is intended to create a theoretical and methodological roadmap that will allow greater clarity as to techniques used, ensuring fidelity in the analysis and representation of results and allowing their application in various studies, is in the study area in question or other. Such clarity and fidelity of procedures will be followed also upon knowledge of atmospheric dynamics and rhythm check climate of the area, not only supporting the reality of climate analysis, but also the genesis of the facts, integrating them with other geographical areas, such as morphology of relief, and, in particular, hydro-resources. To achieve these objectives, this research will use to support another, already finished master's degree level, at which have been demonstrated temporal and spatial distribution of rainfall in the basin annual level and selected their standard years . For such standard years, there was the distribution of rainfall in the seasonal level, monthly and daily, the latter being a prerequisite for the analysis of the active weather pace in the region.
