Assessment of balance and agility in migraine with and without aura

Abstract

Introduction: Migraine is a primary headache of high prevalence and it may be associated with stroke and ischemic complications causing tissue damage of cerebral white matter. These complications affect especially the cerebellum, brainstem and inner ear damaging the functional health of migraine, especially when there is presence of aura. Objectives: Identifying the oscillation of the center of pressure through the force platform and agility by the timed Up and Go test in migraine with and without aura. Methods: We will evaluate by an assessor blind 30 patients with aura and 30 without aura screened from the headache clinic, HC/FMRP-USP by stabilometry (using the force platform) and Test Timed Up and Go. Sample variables will be reported through a questionnaire and will be applied exclusion criteria as BMI, systemic diseases, reports of vertigo out of the episode of migraine and under 5 or over 15 attacks per month. Expected results: Based on the evidence that migraine with aura are more central consequences, the hypothesis of this study is that these patients have more functional changes in relation to migraine without aura, indicating the importance to delineate specific strategies in the functional rehabilitation of this group of patients, according to the debility found in this study.
