In recent decades have seen a great interest in new technologies for the controlled release both in health and in other technology areas such as agriculture, chemistry and materials science. The controlled release has many advantages over conventional forms of release, such as high efficiency release, precise control of dosage for long periods and decreased toxicity. Many drug delivery systems based in polymeric materials that seek to control the quantity, profile and local release of the active principle have been developed recently. However, the mechanical and optical properties of these materials do not always allow their application in a new form of the polymer for use in controlled drug release, film formers. Currently, film formers materials are rarely used and its application is limited to skin protection in surgical cuts and small wounds. Therefore, the objective of this work is to develop and to characterize the film formers materials based on hybrid organic inorganic polymer matrices, controlling the time of film formation, its mechanical properties and release profile of drugs with antiseptic, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory action in the treatment of severe burns. Thus multifunctional materials will be developed to act on the skin protection and at the same time a controlled drug release desired.
