Abstract

This research aims to investigate the distance education of pre-service mathematics teacher, from the perspective of the freshman students. The research question is: "How do freshman preservice teacher conceive their education in a distance education context?" In this work there is assumption that the pedagogical proposal influences the way knowledge is produced (BORBA et al, 2007). In order to collect data for this research, interviews will be undertaken with freshman students to identify their expectation in relation to the course. Also, field trips to the "polos", where students meet, will be undertaken, when will be observed different aspects of the pedagogical proposal of the course, and interviews with coordinators, teachers and tutors will be done. Also the curriculum and other aspects of the course will be analyzed. These results will be "triangulated" with the interviews with the freshman students. This research, in a pioneer pre-service teacher, adds to others already developed by GPIMEM (Technology, other media and mathematics education research group), in the last ten years, which aim to respond, in general, to the nature of continuing teacher education in online education.
