10B mobility in cashew (Anacardium occidentale L.) and peach (Prunus persica L.) trees

Abstract

O B whose importance has been known for decades is used in foliar fertilization in various regions and for different conditions of soil, climate and culture in Brazil. There is, however, that the supply of foliar B also presents contradictory results, has only recently been demonstrated that boron exhibits rapid and significant mobility in the phloem of some species producing polyols. Polyols as sugar alcohols sorbitol, mannitol and dulcitol are capable of complexing B giving this element some mobility within the plant. It appears that in practice, except in cases that are recommended, many producers in part motivated by the wide range of advertising and products on the market use as a foliar application of B supply to plants. This procedure has contributed to the unsatisfactory results on the foliar application of B and this highlights the importance of knowing the most appropriate application method such that the plant can use it. In this sense, this research aims to verify the mobility of foliar applied B in sorbitol-producing plants.
