Abstract

The flaviviruses are a group of more than 70 species, many of which cause diseases such as acute febrile conditions with arthralgias, myalgias, and headache, as well as forms of hemorrhagic fevers, hepatitis and encephalitis. According FIGUEIREDO (2008c), in Brazil were described 12 species of Flavivirus. These can be phylogenetically grouped into three branches: the Yellow Fever, Dengue virus of the sub-branches with for types 1, 2 and 4, and the branch that includes the Brazilian virus encephalitis Saint Louis, Cacipacoré, Iguape, Rocio , Islanders and Bussuquara. The virus Cacipacoré (CPCV) was first isolated in 1977 from the blood of a bird (Percnostola rufrifrons) in the Amazon region, Pará State, the river Cacipacoré, this being the origin of the name of this virus. The vector CPCV is still unknown, but recently found the genome of this virus in a mash of Aedes aegypti. Moreover, until recently it was not known if CPCV caused human disease. However, the recently isolated the CPCV a sample of blood from a fatal case in the state of Rondônia. In short, this is a new Brazilian Flavivirus, little known and capable of causing human infection. Therefore, it is necessary to better characterize the CPCV that even may be circulating in Brazil being confused with other viruses of the same family. Thus, this work shows is important for the future development of diagnostic methods and other studies with the sale agreement.
