Abstract

The emergence of urban density with a very infrastructure precarious, the removal of vegetation cover, replaced by avenues of fund for the valley, for example, among other interventions, potential morphodynamic processes (example erosion, siltation, landslides and floods). Thus, the fragility of the natural elements associated with the misuse of land has led to the emergence of several risk areas in the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo. In this context, one of the most critical watershed of the river Aricanduva, characterized by intense process of urbanization and the consequent sealing of the soil. Whereas the history of life and economic losses resulting from morphodynamic processes has increased in recent decades in the basin of Aricanduva river, the objective of this research aims to identify the main causes of risk areas associated with morphodynamic processes in the upper course of the basin. To achieve this objective will be analyzed and interpreted the natural conditions (lithology, topography, climate, etc.). And the categories of use and occupancy of the soil (anthropic constraints) in the basin from the photointerpretation of aerial images over some decades ( 1960 and 2000), to the mapping of land use history of the area studied, together with the mapping of morphodynamic processes associated with urban sprawl. This research proposes an analysis of risk situations the morphodynamic processes, subsidizing the development of mitigating measures for prevention and control of these processes in river basins in urban areas.
