Abstract

The projects main purpose is the construction of solutions of effective theories, in the low energie domain, for gauge theories. As is known, solitons play an important role in the non-perturbative aspects of the field theories. They appear in two different ways: i)as classical solutions for the movements equation of the original theorie, such as instantons and monopoles, or ii)as solutions of effective theories for the original theorie, such as skyrmions and hopfions. Our interest risides in the low energie, or strong coupling sector of the gauge theories (without matter) for the group SU(N). In particular, we intend to study the model of Skyrme-Faddeev-Gies, whose fields assume values in the sphere S2-SU(2)/U(1). It is believed this model describes some features of of the strong coupling sector (low energies) of the gauge theorie SU(2) without matter. We also intend to extend our studies to the groups SU(N) case, in which the effective theorie should involve fields in the coset space SU(N)=U(1){N-1} or SU(N)/U(N-1).
