Abstract

The Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais (Brazilian Curriculum Parameters). - PCNs, introduced in 1997, made true the intensions of the Secretaria de Educação Fundamental to unchain a process of reformulation of objectives, targets, strategies and methodological procedures for elementary education. Among the ten volumes destined to the first years of elementary education there is one dedicated to Natural Sciences, that offers the teacher subsidies to a new educational practice.Considering the aims of this document, the present work has as its targets the study of the contributions and influences of the Natural Sciences PCNs on the teachers' educational practices in the first years in elementary educational in public schools, trying to identify possible modifications that have been occurring in ten years, since its elaboration and introduction.A study using qualitative research methods will be realized and the describing data will be collected through techniques and methods that include observation, open interviewing and the study of personal, official and other documents. The data obtained in the research will be ranked and analyzed based on principles of a qualitative approach in education.We hope that this study represent a collaboration for the evaluation of the impact of the PCNs in the teachers' educational practices and its effects upon the developing of the educational process, as well as for an improvement of the teaching quality and the teachers' formation.
