Abstract

According to Federal Supplying Company, Brazilian production of sugar cane can surpass 475 million ton, in 2007. Sugar cane sauce extraction generates an expressive volume of the so-called bagasse, a fibrous material. Calcination of sugar cane bagasse permits its use substituting combustible oil and other energetic products. However, several alternatives to employing sugar cane bagasse and residual ashes are possible. The aim of this work is to study two kinds of solid residues proceedings from sugar cane industry: fiber sandashes, in order to produce fiber cement without asbestos. Ashes addictions, substituting cement, and fibers, as reinforcement in cementing matrix, will be utilized in plane board molding, by extrusion process. This is an excellent alternative to Hatschek process, in cementing composites production, in special shapes and low scale. The study will be based on plane boards execution by extrusion process, which mechanical properties, microstructural characteristics and weathering performance evaluated to fundament the conclusions.
