Abstract

History of Pedagogy in the teachers schools of São Paulo State, Brazil (1874-1959)In order to contribute for the comprehension of important and yet minimally explored aspects of the History of Education in Brazil, specially the ones referring to the teachers education, their school disciplines and teaching manuals, this doctoral research project is proposed in continuance with the research developed in the graduation and master's degree work. The objective of this project is to comprehend the history of Pedagogy being a discipline of the curriculum for the teacher's courses in the teachers education schools in São Paulo State, Brazil between 1874 and 1959 which refer to the oldest and newest programs of this discipline identified until now. The approach proposed is based on contributions from cultural history and for this development the procedures will include to locate, recuperate, reunite, select, order and analyze the document sources and specialized bibliography. From the document sources the emphasis will be on educational programs of the discipline and its teaching manuals; from them we will select the most representatives relating to the research objectives and then they will be analyzed under the text configuration analyze method involving the comprehension of the set of its meaningful inter-related aspects. At this time, partial results of the preliminary research have permitted us to confirm the relevancy of the subject and objectives of this project and also the contributions to the field of knowledge in which it is included.Key words: Pedagogy; teachers education; teaching manuals; school disciplines; history of education.
