Influence of pilot hole preparation and implant screw frequency insertion on torque and pulling out resistance of pedicle screw

The goal of the study is to assess the effects of hole preparation and the frequency of screw placement on pullout out resistance and insertonal torque of the pedicle screw. Pedicle screw (5 mm, 6 mm e 7 mm the outside diameter) will be used in the study. The polyurethane, wood and bovine bones will be used as fixation materials. The implants will be inserted on the materials until three times. The insertion torque will be measured by a torque screw drive with capacity of measuring torque of up to 10 Nm. The pull out screw resistance will be evaluated by mechanical tests using the test universal equipment of the Laboratory of Bioengineer of University of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto/USP. The parameters tests will be defined by the pilot tests of the three fixation materials. This research is part of other project and have as objective the fixation of the implants in bone tissue in the spine (Individual Project process Nº 2005/50820-8. The pull out and the insertional torque will be evaluated considering the preparation of the pilot hole and the frequency of screw insertion.
