Hepatitis delta soroprevalence in the Northwest Paulista

Abstract

Viral Hepatitis is a serious public health problem and can be caused by other agents. Are widely distributed in the world and the prevalence varies in different regions. Co-infection or superinfection by the hepatitis D virus (HDV) is a very dreaded occurrence in areas where hepatitis B is common. Sao Jose do Rio Preto is among the three regions with the highest migration rates in São Paulo, which means that there is great movement and spread of various diseases and their etiological agents. This project aims to evaluate the occurrence of Hepatitis Delta in patients with hepatitis B patients (HBV) and are accompanied by Viral HBV load tests carried out by Regional Laboratory Center Adolfo Lutz Institute of São José do Rio Preto - X (CLR SJRP IAL). Patients during routine visit will be duly informed about the purpose of the project and having agreed to participate, shall sign the informed consent form, which shall include all necessary information to the patient, who will also answer the epidemiological questionnaire. After, the blood sample will be collected as routine monitoring of the patient, which will be sent to the CLR IAL SJRP, processed and stored for routine tests and also for serology Hepatitis Delta. A questionnaire to identify factors and risk behaviors, and residence history of the patients, to identify possible routes of transmission is applied. The results will be sent to doctors accompanying each patient, and will be responsible for communication and explanations that may be necessary. At the end of the study, expected to identify instances of Delta hepatitis in patients with hepatitis B residents in Northwest Paulista and contribute to the decision to prevent the disease in addition to improving treatment planning in health services.
