Abstract

Several research projects are developed at the Faculdade de Medicina de São José do Rio Preto - FAMERP. These projects are related to the existing lines of research, which composed the Post-graduation Program's concentration areas. These projects are related to various areas within the Departments of FAMERP. Currently, our research infrastructure is located in Block U-6, built with financial support obtained from the FINEP (Financier of Studies and Projects). In the area of 2,310 m² 1st floor labs are installed and in full operation, including the Multiuser's Lab (LMU). FAMERP Multiuser's Lab comprises infrastructure and equipment for research activities and the production of knowledge and technologies that meet the needs of its scientific community. This Research Center is called Multiuser Laboratory, because it is open to the community of researchers who undertake research in various areas of knowledge, such as cellular and molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, virology, microbiology, pathology, and clinical area among others. The multiuser laboratory equipment has been granted by research funding agencies to FAMERP's faculty attached to the Associate Directorate of Research. The researchers have held the office of the Multiuser's Project Coordinators. Currently, FAMERP's Multiuser Lab gathers equipment of important scientific relevance for the development of quality research in the country, such as equipment that performs HPLC, Flow Cytometry, qRT PCR, Fluorescence Microscope, Microtome, Purification Water System, Ultra freezer (-80°C), among others. Thus, there is a need to invest in groundbreaking methodologies in the Multiuser Lab. It is also necessary to establish approaches, which improve the practice of research, teaching, and extended education of the institution. This way, FAMERP can reach a most prominent place on search in the country. It is appropriate to emphasize that FAMERP's expansion in teaching, research, and extended education activities are possible only with obtaining financing to purchase of laboratory and adequacy of their infrastructure equipment. It is appropriate to emphasize that the FAMERP's activities expansion in teaching, research, and extended education are possible only with the support of financing agencies in order to purchase laboratory equipment and adequacy of substructure. We identified the need to acquire medium-sized equipment, which can increase the value and quality of ongoing projects by several research groups within the institution. Thus, FAMERP opted to apply the grant referring to the EMU proposal entitled "EMU Project for the acquisition of a Luminometer for the Multi-user Laboratory of FAMERP" and linked to the Institutional Technical Reserve of FAPESP of 2016 (Grants 2016 / 23857-2) for the acquisition of a Luminometer (MagPix).
