Abstract

Objectives: To evaluate the effect of a conditional cash transfer program on the timeliness of childhood vaccination, Araraquara, SP. Methods: This retrospective cohort study will analyze secondary and primary data (vaccination survey). The vaccination status until 24 months of age, in 2014-2016 birth cohorts, will be collected in an electronic immunization registry (EIR). This database will be linked to Live Births Information System, Mortality Information System, Hospitalization Information System and to the database of the conditional cash transfer program. We will be able to analyze socioeconomic and demographic data, use of health services for the antenatal and delivery care, hospitalization and death data (about 8.500 children). For statistical analysis, the outcome will be the time to event (absence of vaccination at recommended age), and we will use Cox regression model. The vaccination survey will be performed in a probabilistic and stratified sample of 2015 birth cohort children (n=406). We will collect socioeconomic and demographic data, access of health services and reasons to vaccinate or not. We will also validate Juarez System EIR data comparing with home based record, using kappa statistic. For the 2015 birth cohort, we will geoprocess the addresses, aiming at finding micro areas with low coverage. Expected results and Limitations: The secondary data may be underreported or incomplete; therefore, a survey will be carried out. The project results are intended to provide subsidies for interventions that enhance timely childhood immunization as well as strengthen the use of the electronic immunization record for improved health care and scientific research.
