Photonic Devices Technologies for Advanced Optical Transceivers at 100Gbps and beyond
Upgrade of informatics and net structures: Phase 1 - Data-Center strengthening and...
Abstract
This project proposes the study and development of optical communication technology at its highest level, with special attention to high transmission rates, paving the way for the next generation internet. This project connects seven (7) associate institutions: five (5) academic and two (2) São Paulo State-based high-tech companies (CPqD and BrPhotonics), being the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) the host institution. The other (4) academic institutions are located out side São Paulo State; two (2) in the North-East of Brazil: Universidade Federal da Bahia and Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, and two (2) in the USA: University of Columbia and Bell Labs. Our proposal congregates experts in advanced nanophotonic devices and high capacity optical communication systems and networks, who will have at their disposal modern research facilities to model, manufacture, and characterize advanced devices, and also, an optical test-bed (Kyatera) where new applications and ideas can be experimented. Our team is composed of twenty-eight (21) members, from which, thirteen (13) are from UNICAMP. Among this total, seven (7) are new faculty members with strong potential for research. (AU)
