Abstract

This proposal asks for support inviting PhD Diogo Hildebrand to Brazil. Prof. Hildebrand holds a BA in Economics from FEA-USP, a Master's degree from EA-UFRGS and a PhD from CUNY - City University of New York. After finishing his PhD he was hired by Grenoble Ecole du Management - GEM. During this period, Prof. developed skills in quantitative data analysis (experimental research, modeling of structural equations and use of Software R). This proposal is based on the benefits that the presence of Prof. Hildebrand can bring for faculty and students from PPGA-FEA/USP. The central objective is to expose the faculty and students to the most advanced techniques in quantitative data analysis within the Marketing area. We hope that this effort will be able to boost the technical capacity of those involved, aiming at A1 level publications. Thus, we outlined a set of activities that could foster the transfer of these capabilities to those involved. We divided these activities into four blocks: participation in research projects; short courses and lectures; presentations of Prof. Hildebrand research interests; participation in "ProMark" research group meetings. Participation in research projects will involve professors from the University of São Paulo, Unifesp, UFMG, USCS and Insper. In addition, it will also involve gradute and undergraduate students. The objective of this effort is to build from the joint research activities and strengthen the relations between the different professors and institutions. This effort aims to generate publications in A1 journals. Short courses and lectures are aimed at empowering those involved. We will invite professors and students from PPGA/FEA-USP and from the institutions that we have a partnership that allows students to attend courses within institution. These courses and lectures will deal with topics directly linked to publishing internationally, focusing on data analysis and use of data analysis software and the process of submitting research to journals with high impact. Prof. Hildebrand has practical experience on this issue and will share his experiences on reviewing process of high impact journals. The third block of actions involves the presentation of the research projects that Prof. Hildebrand participates. We will invite professors and students from PPGA/FEA-USP and from the institutions that we have a partnership that allows students to attend courses within institution. These activities will allow participants to deepen their understating on how to delimit the scope and position a paper for publication in high impact journals. Finally, Prof. Hildebrand will attend the periodical meetings held by the CNPQ research group "ProMark". In these meetings, participants present the research there are currently working on. The participation of Prof. Hildebrand will bring a more critical insight into thesis and dissertation projects. We expect that because of these meetings, the quality of projects developed by our graduate students will improve. This will ultimately lead to increased chances of our students approving their research papers in high impact journals. (AU)
