Risk for obsessive compulsive spectrum disorders: clinical, environmental, familial, and endophenotypic considerations

Abstract

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a debilitating syndrome that affects up to 2% of the general population approximately 100,000 Miami-metro residents. Moreover, a recent study in the City of São Paulo revealed that these estimates could be up to 6.7% in urban areas. Despite growing research, much regarding risk for OCD remains unknown. This application aims to facilitated collaboration between USP and Miami University OCD leading research teams in the search for risk factors and biological markers for OCD, which may optimize preventive strategies.
