Abstract

In this project we intend to deepen the works where we studied the quark-gluon vertex combining results from the continuum formulation of QCD (Dyson-Schwinger, Slavnov-Taylor identities) with results from Quantum Chromodynamics in a space-time lattice. The aim is to achieve a more realistic description of this fundamental vertex in QCD and in particular to investigate how it depends on the quark flavor and their relation to the confinement and the breaking of chiral symmetry. On the other hand, we also propose to deepen the study of the electronic properties of graphene and bigraphene-type materials with relativistic effective models in Quantum Field Theory. One of the objectives of this study is to understand how the deformation of the material is reflected either in its electronic properties, as in their optical properties. We intend with this project to maintain the scientific cooperation that we have with Prof. Tobias Frederico and to strengthen the existing collaboration between the Physics Center of the University of Coimbra and the Technological Institute of Aeronautics.
